Supreme Court Vacancy
Justice Sandra Day O'Connor has retired from the Supreme Court and Bush will soon send a nominee to the Senate as her replacement. People for the American Way has set up a web site with information on what's at stake as well as ways for you to take action: Save the Court.

In addition, numerous groups have set up similar pages, including Sierra Club, NOW, MoveOn, Americans United, Civil Rights Coalition and the People's Email Network


4th of July

Many groups in the U.S. are proposing an alternative to the usual fireworks and hotdogs on July 4th: both the Apollo Alliance and Freedom from Oil are promoting a Declaration of Energy Independence; UFPJ and the Center for Constitutional Rights honor true values by calling for Guantànamo to be shut down; Codepink calls for celebrations in the spirit of independence, with justice and liberty for all; and excerpts from Howard Zinn's "A People's History of the United States" are read on a special edition of Democracy Now!


Iraq Exit Strategy
Keep up the pressure for an exit strategy for Iraq. Urge your senator to support resolution 171 by filling out the form on the Act For Change web site and contact members of the Armed Services Committee. In the House, ask your representative to support the Homeward Bound Act.


Poll: 42% Say Bush Should Face Impeachment If He Lied
A poll by Zogby International shows that 42% of voters agree that Congress should hold Bush accountable via impeachment if it is shown that he lied about reasons for going to war in Iraq. If you haven't already, Vote to Impeach.
