ALL TROOPS OUT NOW Basta con le missioni di guerra
Protest in front of Palazzo Chigi Piazza Colonna
Tuesday, June 27, 6pm
Note: To join U.S. Citizens for Peace & Justice at the protest, look for our U.S. peace flag.
A network of Rome anti-war groups is organizing a protest calling for immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan. This protest comes as the new Italian government discusses refinancing the Italian military missions abroad. U.S. Citizens for Peace & Justice supports this initiative and will be there to add our voice.
The number of deaths in just the past two months is staggering, numbering in the thousands. It should come as no surprise that the majority of the Iraqi and Afghan people want an end to the military occupation. But even the U.S. aligned Iraqi and Afghan governments are now calling for a change. In just the past two weeks we have heard requests from Iraqi leaders for a timeline for withdrawal as well as sharp criticism by the Afghan government of the effectiveness of the "war on terror" resulting in hundreds of deaths in Afghanistan in just the past four weeks.
It is important for us, as U.S. citizens, to make our voice heard alongside that of Italian activists in calling for immediate troop withdrawal.
We invite all U.S. citizens and our international friends to join us as we support our Italian partners in peace in calling for:
the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq and Afghanistan;
an end to the occupation of Palestine and guarantees of economic support for the Palestinian people;
closure of all U.S. and Nato military bases in Italy.
USC4P&J will be there on Tuesday with our signs, U.S. peace flag as well as flyers in English and Italian. Join us, and bring your friends.
