NO F-35

Tuesday, June 2 in Novara
NO F-35 National Demonstration

Join Italian peace groups in protesting against the Italian government’s decision to purchase 131 F-35 fighter jets for about 13 billion euro! An Italian industrial-military installation is being built in Cameri, outside Novara (near Milan) for their assembly, scheduled to begin operations in 2010. From there, the fighters will be delivered to countries which will employ them to bomb, devastate and kill.

Making use of public monies – which many feel could be spent in far better, socially effective ways and on more pressing public needs – the U.S. multinational Lockheed Martin, in association with the Italian Alenia Aeronautica (part of Finmeccanica), plans to involve a number of weapons factories on Italian soil, thus using the current economic crisis as an excuse for re-armament (and causing death and destruction!) as a means of boosting the economy.

Demonstrators will be meeting on June 2nd at 3 pm, in front of Novara’s train station in Piazza Garibaldi. They will set off from there to march and make known their opposition to this umpteenth venture in pursuit of war and further deaths.

To find out about organized bus trips or form part of a group travelling by train, please call Roberto on 3381028120 or Nella Ginatempo on 3772110687.

Please join this important effort to oppose the F-35 project, as it affects all of us. Our voice can have a particular resonance here – if we don’t stand up to the designs of the U.S. military in our free and democratic countries, what chance will other, less fortunate, people of the world have?

Please let us know if you are planning to join the demonstration so that we can coordinate travel and meeting up in Novara: info@peaceandjustice.it

We hope that you will be able to participate in this important demonstration!
