Non Violence for a Change

A weekend on non-violent action

Rome, June 2-3, 2007

Translators for Peace, together with the Quaker Peace and Social Witness project Turning the Tide and 360°Sud , present a weekend dedicated entirely to non-violence as a means for social change.

The weekend includes two events:

» Saturday, June 2, 6:30-8:30pm
Screening of the film "Non-violence for a change," in English with Italian subtitles courtesy of Translators for Peace. The film will be presented by Denise Drake of Turning the Tide followed by a discussion together with:

  • Stephanie Westbrook (USC4P&J)
  • Ettore Zerbino (Medici Contro la Tortura)
  • Riccardo Troisi (Rete Lilliput)
  • Francesco Bertolazzi (Greenpeace)

Workshop on active non-violence by Denise Drake, trainer for the Turning the Tide project of Quakers Peace and Social Witness. Representatives of the various groups involved in campaigns of non-violent action are invited to attend.

A voluntary fee will be charged for the workshop.

Turning the Tide (TTT) explores and promotes the understanding and use of active nonviolence for positive change through sharing and developing the skills of grassroots activists across a range of peace and justice issues.

TTT has collaborated with a number of organizations, including: Trident Ploughshares, Fellowship of Reconciliation England, Manchester Environmental Resource Centre initiative (MERCi), Christian Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament, Peace Brigades International, European Peace University (Austria), Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme for Palestine and Israel (EAPPI), Women in Black, Women to Women for Peace, Iona Community.
