Funding Cuts for PBS and NPR A House subcommittee has voted for a $100 million funding cut for PBS and NPR, including $23 million for children's educational programming. Let your representative in Congress know as well.
UN Reform Act Last week the House International Relations Committee passed the UN Reform Act, in which the U.S. threatens to withhold 50% of dues to the UN unless 38 demands are met. Read more about the issues on the Citizens for Global Solutions web site and send a letter to your representative.
Freedom to Read Amendment Congress will soon vote on a bipartisan proposal to prohibit the Department of Justice from using any money in its budget to search a library or bookseller as granted under Section 215 of the PATRIOT Act. This proposal would exempt bookstores and libraries from turning over records on customers or patrons, protecting privacy and first amendment rights. Send a letter to your representative from the Act For Change web site.
