STOP THE WAR ON IRAQ
ALL TROOPS OUT NOW!
Rally in front of the U.S. Embassy in Rome
Via Veneto,
Sept 24, 5-7pm
Join us for a rally in front of the U.S. Embassy calling for an end to the Iraq war and a withdrawal of all troops.
The rally is scheduled at the same time and in solidarity with the massive anti-war march in Washington D.C. and additional protests in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Seattle as well as Florence, London, Paris, Madrid, Berlin, Dublin and Shannon, Ireland.
We will have banners, signs, flags, street theatre and live video streaming of the march in Washington, D.C. Participants of the rally will lay flowers in front of the U.S. Embassy in honor of all those who have died in this illegal war. Please bring flowers with a personalized message attached.
We urge all U.S. citizens as well as our international friends to join us in sending the message that war does not end violence, it breeds it!
Plus it diverts enormous resources (the U.S. military budget is now over $500 billion in the name of "national security") from programs that really protect us at
home.
Just look at New Orleans! Cuts in funding levee repairs (in order to
finance a war in Iraq that had no reason to be) have killed thousands and
left many more thousands homeless.
The National Guard in Louisiana is the only National Guard in the United States that has amphibious equipment and it is all in Iraq along with one third of Louisiana National Guard troops and all but 2 of their rescue helicopters.
To make matters worse, survivors are now dying of aftermath
illnesses for lack of doctors while Bush refuses Cuba's offer to send 1000
doctors specialized in such illnesses. On September 8, Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist, a doctor himself, said the administration had turned down the offer from Cuba because it simply isn't needed. "From a manpower standpoint, everything is under control." Talk about fundamentalism! "Keep your ideals high
and let your people die."
Let us rally together and send the message to the White House: From the Persian Gulf to the Gulf Coast of the US, Fund People's Needs, Not the War Machine!
Not one more senseless death. Make your voice heard!
