White Phosphorus in Fallujah
Protest at the U.S Embassy
U.S. Embassy
via Veneto
Monday, November 14, 4pm
By now you have all heard about and/or seen the video by RAI News 24 on the use of white phosphorus, a banned chemical weapon, by the U.S. military in Fallujah last November. This film is yet more proof of what many independent journalists and human rights groups have been reporting for a year now. It includes graphic photographic evidence of burned bodies of women and children, their clothes still intact. [see the video]
"Fallujah-The Hidden Massacre" chronicles unspeakable, criminal brutality in a senseless war.
Remember the senseless strafing of an entire village (My Lai) during the Vietnam War? This is worse.
We cannot sit by silently. We must make our voices heard at every occasion, especially for those whose voices have been silenced.
On Monday, November 14, 2005, starting at 4pm, U.S. Citizens for Peace & Justice will join a growing number of Italian groups at a protest in front of the U.S. Embassy.
We urge all U.S. citizens as well as our international friends to join us in speaking out against these atrocities.
The outrage against the My Lai massacre helped put an end to the Vietnam War, an equally senseless conflict, also sold to American public through lies, as history has shown.
Let us make the brutal massacre of the population of Fallujah the new My Lai.
Join us, and spread the word:
Monday, November 14, 4pm
via Veneto, in front of the U.S. Embassy

Additional Resources
The Face of War: Photo gallery from Darh Jamail's Electronic Iraq. This album contains photos taken by the military of dead men in Fallujah. The photos were taken on November 19th, 2004, to identify the dead. The IRC estimates that at least 60% of those killed in the assault of Fallujah are women, children and elderly. Warning: These are extremely graphic images posted simply to show the true face of war.
Field Artillery Magazine: March/April 2005 issue of this Army magazine contains battlefield report on Fallujah, with the following on white phosphorus:
"WP (White Phosphorous) proved to
be an effective and versatile munition.
We used it for screening missions at
two breeches and, later in the fight, as a
potent psychological weapon against
the insurgents in trench lines and spider
holes when we could not get effects on
them with HE. We fired 'shake and
bake' missions at the insurgents, using
WP to flush them out and HE to take
them out"
...
"We
used improved WP for screening missions
when HC (Hexachloroethane Zinc) smoke would have been
more effective and saved our WP for
lethal missions."
